The GTX & GT came with the stripes and the side badges in Europe.
I have three of the Scirocco GT/GTX grilles with the red stripes.
The plastic is the same only the stripe is added.
I don't like the look that much but it is interesting.
The Golf GTi had the stripes and so did other GT VWs like the Polo.
The Scirocco just had to have them too. The car was designed to
have them. I have some pictures of early cars in the development
phase that have the striped grille. The stripes are kinda lost IMHO.
No US cars came with this feature as far as I can tell.
