[mk2] saftey feature?

  i tried doing backwards donuts in the snow tonight (hey, we're front
wheel drive an can't do 'em right) and after i got about a 180° going,
the car slipped out of reverse. it'd never done that before (partly
because i've never spun that far before) and it was too late to try
again. just wondering if this a feature that vw put into their cars.
