2.0L 16v swap [long, but worth it!]

Well listers, it is finally done. I put my 2.0L 16v in on Friday
night/Saturday morning. At approximately 3:00am on Saturday January 8,
2000, I primed the fuel system, and got about 2 rotations out of the motor
when it roared to life for the first time. I only had one thing that I had
to go back and do and it wasn't my fault (stupid crimp hose clamps). I have
a few bugs to work out that it had before the swap but it runs well and I am
happy. I started on it about 5pm Friday and just worked straight through
til it was done. I did have to stop to go and buy a 9mm 12pt (forgot that I
didn't have one for the flywheel bolts). So while I was out I got a 7-11
1/3 lb hot dog and covered it with chili and jalapenos!!! Anyway, I did
this at work and verified with the boss that I could drive a shop car home
and then back on Sat to finish, but I ended up driving my car home!!!! Of
course the wife wasn't too impressed when I crawled into bed at 4:30 am and
had to get up to go to work at 8:30. Oh well, I am still up and going and
doing fine (nothing a little adrenalin and caffeine can't handle). Oh, did
I say this was in my 77 Rabbit? I may have forgotten to mention that. Hp
to weight ratio is just right. Here are the specifics: 92 Passat 2.0L
block (new main and rod bearings, rings, all seals and gaskets, windage tray
and a can of black engine enamel) 1.8L 16v head (ported, de-shrouded, port
matched manifolds, ported throttle body, new lifters, Euro intake cam) 16v
trans, 16v axles, 10.1" front brakes, (rears are ready to go on with
booster, master, cables, etc just waiting for ss lines) 15" 90 Corrado
wheels, sway bars and stress bars and poly urethan everywhere. It is pretty
fun, but I am babying it now (nothing over 8 grand, kidding) for atleast the
first 500 or so miles. Plus, I still have a few little bugs to figure out.
Anyway, THANKS TO ALL who helped me with my many questions, MAYBE sometimes
stupid sounding. I am sooooo happy with this list and even the guys who
give me a hard time. There is alot of knowledge here and I will be a member
for as long as possible. Thanks!!!!!

Dave
