Ding, ding. I think Dale's on the right track.
Your engine need a better path for it's electrons. Battery cables are
cheap, as are ground straps. Just swap em out. Can't get a gauge too
large. Recondition the contacts all clean and shiny like. Slap on some
dielectric grease of at least petroleum jelly.
