Any Listers from Europe/Canada ever heard of one of these?

Has anyone ever heard of one for sale to the public in Canada?
Anywhere in Europe? Why buy a Jeep when you can go
off roading in a VW. When I lived in Montana, I used to do this in
my 4dr. 79' Rabbit, but got tired of replacing oilpans and oilpumps.
Kept tearing those darn CV boots as well.

Volkswagen Iltis - Type 183

Some Info I found in the following book includes:
*Made from 79'-82'
*Replaced the Type 181 (VW Thing) for the German Army
*Iltis means Polecat in German
*Created and built by VW, not some Japanese company.
*1700cc (cm3) OHC n/s mounted  in front with 5-speed.
*Rear drive with transfer case to front differential for 4X4.
*Cost as much as an "S" class Mercedes, or BMW 700 series
        when sold new to public in 1981.
*With only 4 entries the VW Iltis placed 1st, 2nd, 4th and 9th
        overall in the 1980 Paris-Dakar Rally.
*All rights and mfg. sold to Bombardier in Quebec, Canada.
        and now produced for the Canadian armed forces and the
        Belgian army. (Are they available to the public?)

This is a great reference book for "most" all VW models.
Never once anywhere in the book is the MK1 Scirocco
mentioned, and only one reference to the Mk2 Scirocco.
