Touch-up paint

Regarding the factory touch-up paint. I believe it (used to be) is
lacquer. On my 87 flash silver, I touched up the door dings i received
from my apartment neighbors. Later when it started to rust, went back to
VW and inquired about the 10 year rust through warranty. "Did you touch
it up?" Well, yeah, used the VW stuff you sold me. "Sorry, you're not
covered."
The factory touch-up paint is (slightly) moisture permeable, so rust
never sleeps. Later saw an Audi touch-up paint kit. Had a moisture
impermeable clear coat paint stick included. Guess if I really wanted to
tilt at windmills, I could have argued, but I kinda feel I'd still have
rusty door handle surrounds, so I paid $$$ to body shop. Long story
there, too. Allot time to make sure all the stuff on your car works when
you pick it up. Unhooking stero stuff and breaking power door linkages
may not be noticeable at first.
