I have had a couple engine conversions in my various Scirocco's and ridden
in many others and one thing I always walk away saying is "Damn I wish I had
just a little more". I don't think you could ever have enough............Ok,
maybe a small Jet engine mounted in the rear exiting out the license plate
area :-)

Scirocco's I've owned:
81 Scirocco - Stock 1715cc w/FF with mods (just plain fun but not very
quick)
80 Scirocco - Stock 1588cc w/4spd. bone stock (quicker than larger 1.7 - go
figure)
81 Scirocco - 1784cc JH w/2H with all the bolt-ons (much quicker than the
two above)
81 Scirocco - Techtonics prepped (EN)1847cc w/FF (keeps up with most new
stock Japanese imports- quicker than JH)
87/86 Scirocco 16V's - Stock w/AGB no mods (heavy and slower than MK1 with
JH)

Scirocco's I have driven/ridden in:
80 Scirocco - 1784 RD modified w/4K? (Dead on with my 1847cc, I'd be faster
with 2H trans though)
81 Scirocco - 1.8 16V stock w/AGB (a little, tad bit, faster than my 1847cc,
again with 2H I'd probably be faster)
81 Scirocco 16V - 2008cc highly modified w/AGB (Ohhhhhh, Nelly better strap
yourself in-"Damn rev-limiter")
87 Scirocco 16V - 1984cc modified? w/AGB (felt like Mk1 with modded JH - I
was un-impressed)

These are strictly my opinions and do not represent what these cars might
acutally do on the dyno, etc... da......da.......da.....
Anyone else have some "seat of the pants views" , or raw data to help Marc
out in his quest?

	I posted this on the Vortex as well, but I figured I should cover
all the bases.
	 
	One of the sales guys I work with knows that I'm big into VW's, so
the other day he dragged me to his house and told me that as soon as I have
a place to put it, I can *have* :) his '81 rocco S. The body is in fair
shape, it needs a new right fender and a paint job. The interior is in good
shape, just really dirty. The engine is top notch, it started instantly. The
only major problem with the car is the electrical system. It is a mess. Too
many hands in there messing around. The radiator fan runs non-stop, and I
had to start it by shorting the solinoid with a screwdriver.
	Long story short, I have a project in front of me. I am planned to
strip it down, fix all the rust, sandblast and paint the body. I will reuse
the trans, the interior, and the glass, but the wiring is shot. The engine
is good, but as long as I have to redo the wiring in the entire car, I
suppose that a 1.8t swap wouldn't be that much more dificult, other than the
cost of the engine itself.
	Basically, I'm looking for guidance. Is this swap pratical...well,
thats the wrong word. Is it doable?
