Also generators are not affected by charging a very low battery like
alternators are.  I you try charging an almost dead battery with an
alternator it will burn out the diodes trying to charge to much.  Don't ask
how I know ($145.00)

Technically, an alternator produces Alternating Current (AC) that must be
rectified to create the DC we all know and love.

A generator generates Direct Current (DC) directly.

Additionally, the one supposedly has the stator in the middle and the other
has the stator around the outside, but don't ask me which is which. I don't
think this part holds true anymore anyway, IIRC.
