rebuilt trans break in period?

I just got my transaxle rebuilt. They guy who did the work (VW
mechanic) told me that I didn't need a break in period. He said to
drive it real easy for a few miles to get all the new parts nice and
lubricated, and then I could stomp on it.

I read a post from Turbo Tim on Jans VW
(http://www-pal.usc.edu/~jan/vw/Transmission/Tranny_Rebuild_Tips)
pages that it was a good idea to use 80/90 Weight GL-4 gear oil for
800-1000 miles, and then switch to synthetic.

I have some Red Line I was planning on putting in the transaxle, but
am unsure now whether to follow Turbo Tim's suggestions, or just slap
the Red Line in from the get go and not worry about it.

My gut feeling is to follow Turbo Tim's suggestions.

What have you guys/gals done?

Victor
