Re: What is the best motor oil?



Hey Dan,
         I use it because the 16V runs so hot.  Most cars will stabilize 
oil temps at 80'C, and then rise to 100'C only in adverse conditions (high 
ambient air temps and/or sustained high-RPMs).  Most 16Vs stabilize 
somewhere over 100'C, and then rise to temps over 110'C.  (Some are lower, 
some higher).

         Because of that, I prefer to use a heavier oil to prevent 
breakdown due to the high temps.  Because of the extremely high gearing on 
16Vs, the added protection is necessary.  (Compare 75mph @ 4000rpm to most 
other cars on the road that are just approaching 3000rpm).
