Re: Mk2 Shifter lever & sore knuckles



Has anyone tried adjusting the lever rearward?  I did this on my '78.  After 
you adjust everything to the right place, before you tighten the "spline 
clamp", pull the shifter back a bit.  I've found this position to be quite 
satisfactory.  The shift knob ends up closer to me.  The shifting is the same 
including reverse.  Down below, the splined shaft is essentially bottomed out 
in the "box".  Try it.
