Re: scirocco-L-digest V1 #1498

re lots stuff

Recaros:

Lady that does sunroofs and upholstery redid some Jetta GLis for bro's 89
GTi. She gets lke $60/bolster for vinyl. Bro got leather. Will fix
foam, too. Look around for someone similar in VT.

Bad headgaskets/oil leak on 16Vs:

Were the Raceware? or ARP fancy studs used to increase clamping
pressure? Head resurfaced/checked prior to instllation? Just curious,
but I recall EC in one of their infomercial-type stories on a 944 T had
some guy replacing the studs in-situ prophylactically.

Fuel enrichment: device does not send out voltage (it mimics a cold temp
sensor); dunno what the current is or how it changes.

Hard starting MKI (Don May) in NC. TSB on replacing/supplementing fuel
accumulator. Your getting a kinda vapor lock.

Braided brake line install:

Attach new line to old prior to removing from caliper to ease swapping
the rubber "doughnut" to new line. I stabilized mine on smaller diameter
ss line by using two nylon ties crossed. On rear, Raven gives tip about
cutting old flex line and using socket to get it off hard line. You
might also have to drop rear axle...

MT drag racing tire pressure:

When you're running real low tire pressure, you probably know you are
using tire's rubber hysteresis to store some energy (winding up tire),
that's returned down the strip, I'd guess. MT used to have headqrts
about 4 miles from me.
