if your problem is just a loose cable, you can use this trick to try and get the hood open...it worked on my 88 16v and i was able to open the hood and tighten the cable...get someone to help you, have them pull the hood release all the way out, and while they have it pulled out, you push down on the hood near the hood release...HTH
