RE: 16V Scirocco (tranny blow up)

exactly, driving is not fun without downshifting :) The only way you could
hurt it is if you were to go downshift from 80mph into 2nd gear.

Phew, If I don't downshift into a turn, and use my brakes, I'm gonna have
mustangs crawling right up my tail thinking, that Scirocco can't handle for
squat. You don't know how many times I hit a curve a little too fast and
downshifting kept me from flying off the road, whereas if I hit the brake, I
would be floating around strumming a harp right now...

I agree, downshifting is part of a spirited drive, or spirited driving.
Speaking with the original owner of my car, that was the *2ND* VW trans that
was put in it. The original puked during warranty, and VW had to replace it!
It's not driving style, it is also not anyone's fault but the manufacturer.
Thanks,

I think this is BS.

I downshift - not to brake, but to keep the motor in
the power band. I've been doing this for (too) many
years.

Please do not be afraid to drive your car!!!!! (it's
fun!)
