the easiest way to get it out is to wiggle the control arm up and down to
release pressure on it while yanking on the bolt really hard with channel
locks :) lining it up again is the worst! use the cheap jack to get the new
ball joint stud back into the hole, and lay down next to it, and look
through the hole where the bolt goes through. That way as you raise the ball
joint stud into there you can see when the groove, and the hole are even so
you can get the bolt back through! Thanks,

ball joint stud. This bolt needs to be taken out completely for removal 
and install. I don't know how you got it out with it still there. 

Also, I've found that unloading the sway bar (you might not have one, 
didn't see any) makes it easier to maneuver the control arm into place.
