CANADIAN 16V BROUGHT TO USA. INFO PLEASE!!

Today I looked at a 16V that was originally Canadian but was brought to
the US. Excellent exterior/interior, great Momo wheels with Toyo tires
with a lot of rubber left, Hella euro-style headlights, 153,000km (about
90something,000 miles I guess --odometer works), original paint (red) in
good shape, tranny and clutch felt ok. Changes were done to it when it was
brought to the US (exhaust, plus whatever else, I forgot to ask about the
bumpers, but I doubt they were replaced with the US version).

It passed inspection on all counts two months ago. It does tend to
overheat a tad, but nothing serious, only halfway between the LED and the
upper limit --although it did reach 80C in oil temp. awfully fast.
Drawback: does not have an AC. Car was manufactured 8/86. Speedo is in km,
tach has a redline of 7000rpm! (what the hell!?!?)

Any listers out there who know Canadian 16V's and their quirks? How much
hp are we talking about? Anybody out there familiar with canadian
Scirocco's brought to the US and what should be paid attention to? I think
I can get the car for $3000. Needless to say, if it was the american
version I wouldn't hesitate, but this brought-over-from-Canada thing has
me a bit worried.

Thanks,

Elias
