'81 16v conversion - vaccum problem?



This is one territory I haven't really explored. I took the engine from an 
'89 Jetta GLI 16v. I don't have the car's original hood, and the Bentley 
doesn't help me at all on the vaccum routing diagram.

When I took it out of the Jetta, there was a little subsystem starting at 
the throttle body, going through various little valves and some kind of 
condenser (originally residing inside the pass. side fender), and another 
line went back to the fuel tank for something.

Another vaccum line hooked up to the knock sensor brain, the heater controls 
(?), the instrument cluster, and some other vaccum canister in the driver's 
side fender.

The car it's going in is a non-california '81 Scirocco 5-spd with no a/c.

I need to know what's important to get this engine running as it may be a 
culprit as to why it *won't* start.

Ugh.
