It's Alive(my 2.0 16V)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well today, after work, I went out to the Scirocco and brought it to tdc
and the pulleys were lined up ok(for those who don't know I had a backfire
out the intake yesterday when I tried to start it). I remembered
everything was lined up when I put it in, including the rotor pointing to
#1 position on the dist. cap; what I stupidly forgot was the distributor
itself had to be lined up too. Doh! Well I lined it up and she tried to
catch then. So I moved the Dist. around until the timing light hit the
notch and then opened the throttle and she caught and ran. After having
the throttle open halfway for a few seconds a released it to idle and it
was fine(the last time the motor ran was oct '96 when I wrecked the car).
So tomorrow I'll hook up the coolant hoses, install the radiator and bolt
down the computers and things. BTW I only ran it for about 15 seconds
because the coolant system isn't attached yet.
Thanks to all you guys who replied about the timing problem, and to Brian
Honnold for much advice and of course to Potterman(and Potterwoman) for
many, many parts.
