Re: Corrado Question & Lotus Glee

Well at least the designer is the same, re: Scirocco content. 8^)
Nice car.
Are you going to add the self-ejecting seat or the self-destruct option?

As far as the Corrado goes, the SLC is the one, VR6.
If you can find an SLC without a sunroof, jump on it.
I've never seen one, but I have heard a lot of problems with Corrado
sunroofs.

What the 16V did for the Scirocco 2, the VR6 did for the Corrado.

You will probably pay twice as much, around $10K, but it will be worth
it.

Who remembers reading about the new Scirocco back in the mid eighties,
and then when it came, Volkswagen denied it's heritage and denounced the
Scirocco name and named it the Corrado. ARGHHH!
I still remember the commercials, dropping a mint beetle from a
helicopter, while a Corrado tears through the mountainous landscape. If I
was in control of that commercial, the beetle would be driving down the
road, and the Corrado would pass it at a 150MPH.
Or passing a chronological Volkswagen convoy, starting with the mint
Beetle and ending with the Scirocco 16V.

As far as I am concerned, the Scirocco II was a mistake, they should have
kept the Mk.1 until '88 and then Volkswagen should have introduced the
new Scirocco based on the A2 platform, a true Scirocco II, the Corrado.
When Volkswagen extended the trunk on the Scirocco II, they adversely
affected the handling of the best handling front wheel drive car ever
made.
