Not VW-specific, but I just heard on the news that the $300 smog fee
that you pay when you bring your car from another state into
California was ruled unconstitutional.  Not only does the DMV have to
stop collecting the fee, but the DMV (unless the ruling by the
California Supreme Court is changed) will refund your money.  The
number on the news to call was 877-SMOG-FEE or also see
http://www.wyca.com

Thought I'd pass along the info.
