Re: Does ANYONE know what year my car is?

84 was the best year for roccos!!! They got swaybars, 1.8L, and didn't have
those cheap door panels with the plastic carpet in the center!

As for finding parts, I too have had problems. I had an early 84 and now
have a later year '84. I found, that if there was any question about what
part to use, I call my late '84 an '85, and my early '84 an '83. I think the
engine and chasis parts for a late yr 84 are exactly the same as the '85 to
'88 8v? Also, is it has AC, the round modern style compressor indicates a
later car. (the old piston style makes a good air compressor)
Also, I may be wrong, but every '85 or later VW I have seen has had the 16v
spoiler.

Ben 84 8v
