Scirocco Injury (ouch!)

Here's my sob story (although after reading about how Rich's rocco got
stolen, I feel a bit better):

Ford Aerostar in front of me drifts to the left side of the lane and
slows to turn left. No blinker. I slow a little and sneak around the
right side of it. Sorry! It suddenly turns right, cutting me off, and I
skid the tires, slide on sand directly into it. It pushes the front end
of my rocco over, and I end up kissing the van completely on the left
side. My head slumps over on the steering wheel in defeat and I end up
looking at myself in the now pushed-in left side mirror.

Millions of thoughts cycle around in my head within moments. "I hope
it's not as bad as I think it's gonna be", "Mk1 fenders are impossible
to find!" "I hope the frame isn't bent" "I hope I can open my door" "I
hope I don't kill the driver of that van" etc.

The van eventually peeled itself off my car, and I got the first glimpse
of damage... I was elated to find only a small dent in the rear fender
flare, and lots of scrapes, and a dent the size of a softball in the
front fender. The blinker was smashed and the bumper got moved over
about 1/2".

Nothing that can't be easily fixed.

The moral of this story:

Apparently, on a single lane road, the driver can technically do
whatever he or she wishes. He/She can signal left and turn right, and it
still is more legal than passing someone on the right on a one lane
road. So, I ended up being the one at fault. =(

Hope it gets warm soon, so I can break out the Bondo!
