Man, I spent four years in the Marine Corps..  I know your pain.
the people working the gate are bored.  plain and simple
especially late at night.  they would love to have something
to do. so what do they do?  the harrass the shit out of anyone
that appears to have had a good time that night.  and even
those that don't.
i know the airforce is a bit different, but the people in the
marines that are usually working the gate aren't even MPs
which makes for a big time hassle, they are the shitbirds
that companies send up for the base quotas.  people they
didn't want working for them, so they sent them away to
be mps and gate guards and other crap.
sooooo in a nutshell.. not only are they bored. they're
pissed too.. nothing worse than a 19 year old with
a badge and a gun.
believe me, I know your pain.
