Corrado recall!!

Item from new issue of AutoWeek, just arrived today, under "recalls":

"6,200 1992-94 VW Corrados
A cooling system malfunction could cause a pressure buildup, and spill hot
coolant into the passenger compartment, burning an occupant's feet or
 creating steam that impairs visibility."

Yikes, at that number, that sounds like probably all VR6 Corrados sold here!

Another tidbit, from the "Car Board", same issue, commenting on the 1999
Jetta (A4) GLX:

"Great handling on dry or wet or whatever pavement. We understand why Jetta
is VW's volume sales leader. With this sweet V6, it just wants to go all day.
Fitted with the autobahn-running tall third gear <??>, it's at home at low
revs (which, if it didn't have traction control, might be necessary to reduce
wheelspin) all the way up to its redline. You can put one of these in our
garages - or on our skidpad - any day."

WTF is an "autobahn-running tall third gear"?? Who drives in 3rd on the
'bahn anyways?

Good commentary nonetheless.. funny how someone can praise the handling and
others have totally lambasted the car for poor suspension tuning..
