Two Mk1 Rocco Questions

1981 Scirocco.. Stock.

Ok, question #1:
    I have stinky heat. I live in CT, and lately it's been about 15 
degrees or so. First real occasion I've had to blast the ol' heater up. 
Now, first of all, the car doesn't put out that much heat. I've recently 
backflushed the entire system, replaced the radiator, water pump, and 
thermostat. The heat is not that hot, and when the fan switch (speeds 
1-4) is at 1 or 2, this putrid dog hair musty smelling odor comes out.
    Supposing it IS dog hair (I cleaned a LOT out when I first got her), 
what do I go about cleaning out? Or, could it be something else?

Question #2:
    Since the Mk1 Rocco, and Rabbit have essentially the same 
dimensions, are cabriolet body kit parts swappable (mainly fender 
flares, side flares, front & rear valences)? Does the same go with 
Rabbit GTI body kit parts? I haven't been able to find a GTI or 
cabriolet in the area where someone wouldn't mind me taking a tape 
measure to their car! =)
