Re: 16V motor and wide ratio tranny??

]There's a guy on the list, Toby, who has his car listed for sale in the
]www.scirocco.org ads. He has a 1990 Golf wide ratio tranny on his 16V,

]However, what kind of "drive" can one expect to have with a 16V and wide
ratio ]tranny. I don't push the car hard when driving. Sometimes. And I
do alot of ]highway mileage. Is this ok, or be cautious of it. He says
the clutch may need to ]be replaced soon. Is there anything that would
have to be altered on the ]components to make these two pieces fit. I
heard of people having to shave off ]parts to make things fit. Is this a
cse of that? Or is this plug right in and fit.

The golf tranny will bolt right up. No "shaving required". The only
difference is the size of the input shaft on the tranny and the clutch
disc.

]Will the wide ratio give me better gas mileage in 5th. what will gears
1,2,3 feel ]like?

You should get a lot better mileage with the taller 5th. there are a lot
of guys with tall 5ths on the list who could give you specifics.
