[Funky tech] Lights: Completed! Instructions

A cheap mod for those that can't afford those fancy auxillary lights. A
toggle switch, in-line fuse holder, a 5amp fuse, and some wire. The
how-to's follow.

The so-called funky tech lights are done for the 88 16V...

1st- thanks to all who who had the patience to work with me on this!
Especially, Andre, Chris, and Mark, and a whole slew of people back in
November 98.
For web site how-to, they follow to..

By use of a toggle switch on the dash. I now have the option of turning on
my low beams along with my high beams. It now appears as if this was a
factory option. I noticed this fills in the space on the road closest to
the car. Now it is an even distribution of light.

The how-to's
Drop the plastic cover near the ignition on the steering column. Look along
the side that has the hi/lo beam selector. Disconnect the black tab that
has 4 wires together. There is red/yellow, white, yellow, white/black. This
is the connector for your hi/low selector.
Make a tap (expose some of the copper) into the white/black wire. Take a
wire that has an in-line fused already crimped into it. Crimp a female end
to one end. This female end connects to the toggle switch. My toggle
switch is located under my rear defrost switch which is below the hazzards
switch. You can place it anywhere. The other end taps into the white/black
wire. This wire is the power given from the headlight switch when turned
on. We do this as opposed to constant power to prevent anyone from
accidentally leaving on the lights. Tape this connection.

Next: Tap into the yellow wire. Connect a wire to this tap. The other end
of your wire has a femal end crimped to it which goes to the other
connection on your toggle switch.

Here are the results...
headlight switch off/ toggle off lights off
headlight switch off/ toggle on lights off
low beams selected / toggle off low beams on (55wx2=110W)
low beams selected/ toggle on low beams on
high beams selected / toggle off high beams on (100wx4=400W)
high beams selected / toggle on: high beams on & low beams on
(400w+110=510w)

BTW, I may do away witht the toggle and in-line fuse, and just run a wire
between the 2 mentioned wires above to make this a permanant feature. Andre
was right. I was going to like it...alot.
