Hey gang...

For all those who chase the 'deal of the century'...

I always get my replacement parts through my friend at the dealership. 
He orders them through a local parts house that delivers. I get all the 
right names at a great price. Problem is, my friend is absent minded.

I need to get my car on the road by Saturday AM for the NJ cruise. I 
ordered 10 head bolts, 2 O-rings, 4 injector shroud-to-head seals, and  
12 taper seat lug nuts LAST SATURDAY! I kept reminding him, he kept 
forgetting. Then he remembers to do it yesterday, and they're missing 
some of the seals. I said 'send what you've got" but he said 'too late, 
dude. I told them that you'd wait." gggrrrrr. So they were supposed to 
show up today so I could get the motor fired up tonite, but when I 
called to pick them up, they didn't show.

So I'm on the phone with VW's parts guys, cause I can't wait any longer, 
and they're telling me that there is NO gasket between the Air shroud 
and the head.  I'm trying to explain that I saw one- it came out when i 
took the shrouds out, but they don't believe me. They say they just 
thread in.  Funny, the 85 and up cars have the gaskets...hmmmm, the 83 
and down cars don't have the air shrouds...hmmmm...very interesting!   
DUH!!!!

I'm pissed now. It was bad enough having to drive to flemington (25+ 
miles), pick up the parts, go buy a torque wrench, and do it all first 
thing in the morning so I can test drive it and work out the bugs... Now 
I gotta hunt down the damn parts....
