Compression depression

Here's the dilly-o.
Leak down test.  Pressurize number one with 100 psi, 95% leaves, 5%
stays.  It is read as coming up the #3 cylinder (holds 95%, leaks 5%).
The local shop guys think its bad rings in #1 (leaking out #1 into #3),
and based on the amount of gas showing up in the oil, I'd have to agree.
BUT.....it burns no oil whatsoever, as would happen if bad rings were
the case.  Any ideas?

'84 1.8 8v, pretty bone stock.

Oh, and if anybody has a good original 5 speed leather-covered shift
knob lying around, let me know? Or a working rear wiper motor....or side
mirrors (drivers side is hurting bad....)...or a decent rear view
mirror......hood hold-up bar hold-down clip.....the list goes on and
on.....
