Mono-wiper question

Hi,

I have what might be a dumb question regarding the mono-wiper.  Every
time I shut the wiper off (which has not been much), it has always
returned to the right side of the windshield.  Today, at a car wash, an
attendant left the wiper in a position on the windshield (i.e. not lying
across the bottom), when I flipped the switch to get it back, it went to
the left side of the windshield.  Is this normal?
