I have  used the Vice Grips method myself many times with one variation . I 
clamp it to the hex part at the top of the injector and make sure its 
paralell to the valve cover. Then I use a long screvdriver and pry up on the 
Vice Grip using the valve cover as the   fulcrum , sometimes a little tap on 
the end of the screw driver helps if its stubborn .
