Did I overcook the alt?

Hey kids-

On the way home from night school last night, I over-revved the motor on the 
uGLI. The alt (and I think the oil) light started to glow dimly and they got 
brighter as I over-revved. When I went back to *normal* driving, they went 
out as normal. I looked at the volt gauge and now Im pulling 10V.  Just 
minutes before it had 12.5.

I haven't checked it out today, to see if it healed itself, but I know the 
alt/H20 belt was still there...

Any suggestiopns?  The battery is less than a week old, so it's not 
suspect...
