sound diagnoses.. steering clunk and rear rattle

hey all

1. i've got this recent sound coming from the steering rack (i think)..
sometimes when i turn the wheel hard, there's a light clunk. (btw, i know
that the boot is busted up and the joint is exposed - passenger side) wtf
is this sound?
2. i've had this rattling noise coming from the rear somewhere - i first
thought it was the brake pads, but after having the car on the lift and
shaking the sh*t out of the rear wheels, there appears to be no rattle.. i
hear this often when i drive over speed bumps or even at slow speeds. wtf
is this?

any ideas?
