*Shouldn't* be illegal, but I'm sure that's up to your state legislator. I
just saw a 400hp Talon Turbo that the guy made a custom downpipe for. It
came off the exhaust manifold in a 4" pipe, made a 90-degree bend at the
bottom of the engine, and exited in front of the driver's side front
wheel! Granted, the lack of a muffler and cat made it illegal, but he said
that the exhaust point doesn't matter at all.

It WILL be an issue in AutoX, from the rules I've seen, though! IIRC
xSP allws any exhaust as long as it exits in the stock location.
