I've had this happen to 3 different scirocco seats over the years.  I think
it may have to do with the wear that our seat back angle is at especially
when you put the height/angle adjustment into play.   This is unfortunately
common in mk2s,  dunno about mk1s.   Never seen it in a rabbit, golf
or jetta though, hence the logic.  Get a cheap racing seat.
