If indeed it is an attempt to copy a scirocco,
I wouldn't venture so far as to call it pathetic.
2.3L Turbo?  Hmmmmm.  Might be fun too!
I've only ever ridden in 1 Saab Turbo.  On my
way to the hospital from a rugby game to get
stitches.  Although I was disoriented as hell from
loss of blood and swelling.  It seemed to be a
fun car.  Its not a VW but I'd sure pick one of those
over Japanese any day of the week.
