Help w/manifold fit, and vin decoder

   I picked up a 4-2 manifold from an old Rabbit. It is a diesel, 90
cid.  I wanted to know if it would work with my 87 8v, before I
start cleaning it up, removing broken studs, etc....

  I was hoping to get some more info on the car it came from.  So I
got the vin plate while I was there.  The code is 17A0610793.  It
won't work with the VIN Decoder on www.scirocco.org, why?  Is it too
old a car?
