2'' or 2.25'' exhaust is better?

i was going to buy a new exhaust system and read somewhere that i should get a
2'' exhaust system instead of the 2.25'' for my scirocco.  I dont plan on
buying a 2liter but i was going to up my compression to 10.5:1 and p&p the
head.  Should i get a 2'' or 2.25'' system?
