Weird engine swap opinions needed[long]

OK a friend of mine has bought a 924 turbo. Now he wants to scrap the 2.0
turbo, I'm not sure if its a 16v or an 8v. Anyway I know that this motor puts
out 156 at the rear wheels and 170 at the crank at stock form, and Porsche
tends to under estimate there cars power. Now I also Know that it uses an Audi
trans that has the same bolt and I believe spline pattern as a 16v. Now it
should fit in the bay but I would have to do some exhaust work to get the
manifold to work . . .
Anyone think this is all worth it. . Or have more info on 924 turbos.
Yes, I know about the 924 carrera Gt. with 275 bhp and the very limited
production lemans 375 monster. The main reason I'm going for this is well I
really don't think anyone has tried this also if I get real creative I can
mount the motor to run rear wheel or a Quattro set up.
Or if I'm going to go through the trouble of a Porsche water cooled 4 cyl
should I go for a 944 16v turbo . . ? Not sure on the power ratings stock, But
I do know that they came with a weaker trans that I believe is compatible with
the Audi trans from the 924 . . . Yes, I'm getting all the wire looms and
electric's for the 924 from the donor car and He might take my cis-e for a vw
transplant in the 924. .  don't ask I'm not even sure why he's putting in a
1800cc 8v . . He did work to it . .  some crazy numbers including a 14:1
compression . .  as you guessed he wants to race it . . 
Well, anyway give me your opinion on the project . .
