I put in the Audi TB, and it's great. I didn't have time to take out the
intake and port it to match the TB mounting, so once I do that it should
be even better. Make sure you find a way to shorten the "pivot arm." The
VW TB has a shorter arm (the piece that the throttle cable clips on to,
and which opens the TB) so that if you just straight swap TB's you will
be just short of getting full throttle. There is about a 5-7 mm
difference in the arm length. What I did was to pull off another arm
from a TB at a junkyard (audi 5000 TB). I then removed the "ball stud"
from the VW TB arm (hard, be persistant) and drilled an appropriately
sized hole in the spare audi arm at the right distance. Then pressed it
in with a vise. No welding. (I used an angle grinder for some of this.
coarse but fast)

I'm interested in this ram-air setup. Thinking about attempting something
like it. Let me know if you do this and what materials you used.

Also if anyone else has done this, what are the results? Recomendations,
etc.
