Here's one for ya'll.  I have both, an 81 8v and an 87 16v.  I love them
both.  If I had to pinpoint a problem, I don't like the (lack of) low
end torque on the 16v but love the weight of the car, feels very solid.
On the 8v, sometimes I don't like the (lack of) weight of the car, love
the nimble handling and the low end torque.  
So I guess I'm a fence sitter and will not lean one way or the other.
