Intermittant loss of power when accelerating

My 86 MK1 often loses power when accelerating, often when turning a
corner and accelerating out of a corner from a stop.  It is a noticable
loss of power, having nothing to do with the engine characteristics.  It
seems like the fuel supply is intermittantly cutting out.

I've run a couple of bottles of Techron fuel injector cleaner stuff
through there.  The engine runs better now, but the problem above still
occurs.

Should I replace the fuel filter?  Is it likely to be a clogged fuel
filter?  Or could it be something else?
