My 4k has 90mm CVs - maybe the 9A uses 100mm?  I am sure _some_ 4ks use
100mm(AFAIK, they came in early Golf GTIs, AFAIK, all Golf GTIs have 100mm
CVs).  Either way, if both are out of the car, it should not be hard to
switch flanges to suit your needs(if applicable).  I don't know much about
the later stuff, but my 4k(in a 10/83 built GTI, 84 model year) has 90mm
flanges.  FWIW!
