Both trannies have the exact same gears. They are both close ratio
trannies and both have the .89 5th gear. (Kinda tallish.)

The difference is that the 4K uses a 3.94 Ring & Pinion. (R&P)
The 9A uses a 3.27 R&P.

The 9A is a little taller geared but not by much. The speed at 3500 in
5th gear is 
4K = 65mph
9A = 68mph

Thr 9A also uses 90mm hubs where as the 4K uses 100mm hubs.
