actually the 16v seats don't go as low.  At least thats the way it 
was in my car.  I had factory 83 leather seats and I swapped a 16v 
leather(with the bigger side bolsters) and it doesn't go as low.  Not 
that it matters I still have plenty of headroom.

I don't know if they differ, but I know that all Scirocco II seat frames will
fit. Someone once told me that the 16v frames adjust a little lower, but I
don't know if it's true. Rabbit GTi frames would fit, too, they just won't
adjust downwards. (For that matter, so would Golf, Jetta, Quantum, etc... I
think)
