Clutch Mileage

Carol,
Congrats!  You will have tons o' fun zipping and
zooming--hopefully it'll accelerate like a rocket and steer as
responsively as mine.  I get pretty good mileage, too.   
Mine has about 160-180 thousand on it.  I have to estimate because
my odometer was not working for about a year.  The clutch at this
time seems to have two "grab points" as it is let out, and once or
twice seemed to slip but it could be my overactive imagination. 
After taking her out for a spin to the grocery store tonight,
though, I believe I could have other problems--just hear a little
thumping-- could be a wheel bearing. 

Oh, I have heard that Scirocco clutches are reknown to go bad
sooner than later.  Has anyone else heard or know about this? 
Maybe it's just that 'roc drivers can't resist popping their
clutches too often!  I have tried to treat mine with kindness.
