[HELP] [WATERCOOLED VW]

The hole was a little smaller than the diameter of a pencil.

Fortunately, the hole was not next to a fitting or bracket.

This is what I did:

I took a piece of coolant hose, cut a 2" section, then sliced it length
wise so that I could place it over the pipe. I placed it on the pipe such
that the cut was on the side opposite of the hole. I then placed a hose
clamp on the hose directly over the hole, and tightened it very well,

I filled the tank with water (since I will have to drain it again anyway)
and off I went! It made it the 12 miles no problem!

Hello List:

My Xwife <grrrrr> takes great care of her 1990 Jetta (the one I bought). 

On Sunday, the metal cooling pipe that goes back to the heater hoses (and
the expansion tank) rusted through. I'm sure this has nothing to do with
her exemplary maintenance habits  ("It broke down - I need a new car!")

Any ideas for a temporary fix so that I can drive it back to her house
for repairs (by me, of course)???????
