OK 1st of all:  booo  :[    _I_ want an Audi 2.0L. 

2nd: 8]) Yeah!, you got one!

All right- I think the major reason that they differ in HP is the exhaust and
to some degree the valves and ports.

Slap a good 'big valve' 1.8 liter top end on it and a dual down pipe and a
decent cat back exhaust, don't leave off the cat now!, and get thee to a dyno
and let us know how much you're putting to the ground.
