HEEELLP!!!

I was just driving home from the store and everything was good and then I
went to shift into fifth..the shifter seemed to go a little far to the right
and up and then shifted into third...i went Uh Oh. Then I shifted back down
into fourth and when i came to a stop i discovered that first gear was where
reverse used to be and second straight below it. Now the shifter flops
around everywhere but I can still find first, second, third and fourth but
no fifth or reverse. Please tell me what to do, my baby is in trouble :). I
have an 86 8v and I hope to God this isnt a transmission prob but a shifter
prob or something.
