A3 2.0L swap into a Mk1

Okay, I'm starting to look at engine choices to put into my '78, and I =
was wondering if anyone out there has swapped an A3 2.0L with a =
crossflow head into a Mk1 'rocco.  If so, please let me know how it =
went.  Was there a problem with the block being too tall to fit into the =
engine compartment?  I've heard that you have to modify the firewall in =
some way.  Does the crossflow head work with the stock airbox location =
in the Mk1's?  Please dispel some rumors for me, and get me on the right =
path.  I would appreciate hearing about any experiences anyone has had =
with this.
